Charges relating to immigration and brought by New Zealand Customs vary and can be associated to fraud, dishonesty and offences governed by the Crimes Act 1961 and breaches of the Immigration Act 2009 we have dealt with many high profile cases involving a wide range of circumstances.
Both Customs and the Ministry of Business, Innovation and Employment can bring charges against people who have been charged with a range of offences including providing false information, exploitation of workers, visa fraud and offences by employers or education providers.
The Courts in New Zealand take these types of offences very seriously and many of the charges attract lengthy prison sentences and/or significant financial loss (and possible deportation with regards to immigration-related charges).
