Marek Hamlin, barrister initially started his legal career with the New Zealand Police in 2006 working in the first Criminal Justice Support Unit (CJSU). He worked alongside and was trained by some of New Zealand’s most highly decorated police detectives and uniformed staff and was involved in a diverse range of police prosecution matters. This background enabled him to gain thorough knowledge and practical experience specifically in Criminal Law for both the prosecution and defence bar.

Marek left the CJSU to pursue a Bachelor of Laws and Bachelor of Business majoring in Management and Marketing in Auckland while working alongside some of Auckland’s most senior barristers. Marek is now an employed barrister who deals predominately in criminal defence and appears in Courts throughout New Zealand for a variety of criminal proceedings.

Marek has a wide range of skills and experience through the diverse roles he has had over his career. He is client focused and strives to achieve the best possible results for High Street Law’s clients. He understands that no situation is ‘black and white’ and is both direct and understanding of the situations people can find themselves in; this foundation enables him to be a strong advocate for the clients he represents.
